NON-MERCURY SLIP RINGS & ROTARY GROUNDS
TECHNICAL FEATURES
NON-MERCURY SLIP RINGS & ROTARY GROUNDS FOR SENSITIVE APPLICATIONS
- Non-mercury rotary grounds & slip rings available
- Same performance & benefits as all ROTOCON brushless rotary grounds & slip rings
- Ongoing development to expand non-mercury series
Meridian Laboratory designs and manufactures high-performance brushless slip rings and rotating electrical solutions for applications and industries worldwide. In some cases, it may be necessary to use a slip ring or rotary ground that does not contain elemental mercury due to environmental or material sensitivity requirements.
For these applications, Meridian Laboratory offers non-mercury, brushless, wetted slip rings and rotating electrical connectors. Our non-mercury slip rings and rotary grounds deliver the same high performance and benefits as our mercury-based models – both of which significantly outperform conventional metal-on-metal, brushed slip rings. While Meridian Laboratory’s complete lineup of ROTOCON slip rings is not yet entirely mercury-free, we are actively and continuously working toward that goal. Our ongoing development focuses on expanding our range of brushless, non-contact rotating electrical connectors that do not utilize elemental mercury. With each new product generation, we are increasing our variety of high-performance, mercury-free solutions for power and signal transmission.

FAQs
Answers to Common Questions
ROTOCON rotary grounds are built to provide reliable, uninterrupted electrical contact over an extended operational lifespan, frequently surpassing 500 million revolutions without requiring cleaning, conductive grease, or brush maintenance. Our designs emphasize long-term performance and dependability, using carefully selected materials and components to ensure a robust, maintenance-free solution.
For most instances, UL and CSA certifying a single ROTOCON slip ring model poses cost and time prohibitive limitations. While they can be certified, the process is often time-consuming and costly in low volumes. Once a device receives UL/CSA certification, any modifications or revisions require re-certification and potentially additional testing, adding further expenses, especially for low-quantity slip ring orders. In most cases, the final machine or end product incorporating the ROTOCON brushless slip ring is what requires UL or CSA certification, for which Meridian Laboratory can provide the necessary documentation and support to assist in that certification process.
